As a mother, Gov. Gregoire believes our environment is the greatest legacy to our children and grandchildren. Under her leadership, our state is taking on global and local environmental challenges.

Our state is leading the nation’s fight against global warming. Gov. Gregoire signed the Climate Change, Green Jobs bill, which will reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Local Solutions to Global Warming bill gives cities and counties greater control over local development so they can better manage growth and its impact on climate change.

Washington is a top producer of renewable energy, which will also power our economy. By 2020, Washington will have 25,000 green jobs.

Gov. Gregoire created the Puget Sound Partnership to clean up the Puget Sound. The Partnership joins together businesses, communities, local elected officials and Tribes to preserve the Sound for future generations.
