An important milestone
Posted June 20, Noon
Last night at 7:47 p.m., Democrats reached an important milestone by making 60,000 phone calls to voters in our state. By the end of the night, Democrats had made more than 62,000 phone calls. This is the kind of aggressive grassroots campaign that Team Gregoire is going to run every day until November 4th.
Rodney, a Team Gregoire volunteer from Everett, made the call that put us over the top. When asked why Rodney joined Team Gregoire, he said “I think Gregoire has done a great job running the state these past four years. I want to see her be re-elected.”
We have had thousands of volunteers commit to working to elect a governor who is committed to creating jobs, protecting the environment and expanding healthcare coverage. By making calls and knocking on doors, Gov. Gregoire’s supporters are making sure that voters know that we have a governor who is getting results!
Thank you for your support.

Seattle named one of the "Best Cities for Innovation"
Posted June 16, 2:02 p.m.
Fastcompany.com recently named Seattle as one of the world's "Best Cities for Innovation."
"Is the next Silicon Valley on Puget Sound? Washington has the U.S.'s highest proportion of engineers, and Seattle is seeing $1 billion in VC funds a year. The Fremont District, home to Google's new research lab, has become a magnet for tech startups. Raising Seattle's cultural cred: the art museum's recent expansion and the opening of the $85 million Olympic Sculpture Park."
Final update from the convention
Posted June 14, 4:37 p.m.
The convention was a huge success for Team Gregoire. Thank you to the hundreds of people who have volunteered and joined us this weekend. Every new member of Team Gregoire brings us one step closer to victory on Election Day.
Each person who joins Team Gregoire has the ability to contact thousands of voters, share the story of Washington and involve countless others. The people they contact can do the same and strengthen this grassroots campaign one person at a time, one community at a time, until November.
Involving others is the path to victory on Election Day for Sen. Barack Obama, Gov. Chris Gregoire and other Democrats. It’s also the path to a stronger Democracy for our state and our nation.
We hope to see you soon…
We are the storytellers
Posted June 14, 2:33 p.m.
Gov. Chris Gregoire ended her speech by saying that Washington has a great story to tell, and we are the storytellers.
Person-to-person contact, or “voter contact,” is the best way to tell Washington’s story and win this election. Voter contact is the most important building block of a strong grassroots campaign. It includes calling voters on the phone, attending local events and doorbelling.
Every member of Team Gregoire is involved in voter contact, but the work of volunteers makes the biggest difference. Team Gregoire is committed to running a very aggressive, ambitious grassroots campaign and volunteers are going to lead the charge.
With new field offices in Spokane, Tri-Cities, Bellingham, Everett, Bellevue, Tacoma, Olympia and Vancouver, joining Team Gregoire has never been easier. And with the election heating up, it’s never been more important.

She also challenged every person in the audience to do their part to spread the message of Democratic candidates in their own communities.

Meet the newest member of Team Gregoire
Posted June 13, 1:15 p.m.
Team Gregoire is committed to running the most aggressive grassroots campaign in a governor’s race that Washington has ever seen. We have eight new offices and our ranks and growing every day.
Meet one of the newest members of Team Gregoire, Brett from Spokane…
“Even though I have never been much interested in politics, I think this election is really important and [Gov] Gregoire has shown that she cares about working families like mine.
Volunteering was way easier than I thought it would be. I enjoy talking to people in my neighborhood about which direction they want our state to go. It’s a great feeling to convince an undecided voter to turnout for Gregoire.”

Every vote matters

The convention doors opened at 9 a.m. and the building hasn’t stopped moving since. Democrats from all over the state are in Spokane to learn more about their duties as delegates and how they can help make a difference this November.
At 10 a.m., several forums about the basics of political campaigning started, which will last until lunch. The Washington State Democratic Party committees are also meeting.
It’s rumored that approximately 4,000 people will attend the convention, so there is a huge amount of energy as passionate Democrats from all over Washington learn about what they can do to decide the direction of our state and our nation in November.
Everybody we’ve talked to understands the importance of Gov. Gregoire’s re-election and the choice that’s before us in November.

Gov. Chris Gregoire meets with Skagit County Farmers
Posted June 1, 8:52 a.m.
Gov. Chris Gregoire met with farmers from Skagit County to talk about agriculture in Washington. As the Skagit Valley Herald reported,
"Gov. Chris Gregoire stood between rows of ripening berries Saturday to tell worried farmers that she wants them to, well, keep growing strawberries and raspberries and all the other crops that are raised from Washington soil.
...
She told attendees that she would work to address their concerns.
...
And in the spirit of supporting her local farmers, she had one last question for [farmer Steven] Sakuma, which she asked as her black hybrid Chevy Tahoe prepared to pull away. 'Would his farm's raspberries be ripe in time for her daughter's August wedding?'" |

Gov. Chris Gregoire also attended an event with the Skagit County Democrats. Here are a few photos of the event, courtesy of Barb.
